1995 honda civic dx, regular engine (not the VTEC)...started losing (?) oil last year with 130,000 miles...no oil on the ground..no oil in the antifreeze no oil smoke from the exhaust, no oily residue in the exhaust???

I travel on the highway for about 4 hours and it's down about 2 quarts...where is it going?

well if you are leaking that much oil then there's bound to be some left behind from wherever it came from. I suggest putting your car up on jackstands, and sliding under as if you are going to do an oil change and look all around the oil pan for any oil, it stands out on the normal dirt crusted surface. follow it up to the highest point, dont be fooled, oil can sneek along horizontal surfaces, like along a headgasket.

my friend had the same problem with this. have u ever changed the oil pan gasket? good pos. this could be ur problem.

Could be head gasket, but you should see some kind of residue on the engine parts around where it is leaking.

If your engine is dirty, and you can't tell, clean it just using a can of degreaser or similar product, and then keep looking for the new oily build-up.

yes i read that there was no oil (blue) smoke out the exhaust, but that doesn't mean u rn't burning oil. if u'r catalytic converter is still in good condition, it will actually take care of the smoke caused from burning oil.
here's how to tell if u'r burning oil or not. pull u'r plugs one at a time so u can keep track of which cylinder/s u'r leaking oil into. if they r actually damp, or atleast damp looking and smell of oil, then u'r piston rings r shot and leaking oil up around them. the reason some of the oil stays on the plugs is because it doesn't have time to atomize completely before the mixture is burned. if they r gunked up w/ carbon build up. then u'r valve guides r leaking the oil down into u'r intake ports and the oil is getting atomized w/ the incoming fuel/air as it enters the cylinder. the rings on my old dx motor were shot and i was burning lots'o oil, but didn't have the smoke trail.
