I need some advice, i found an 88' rx7 for cheap, around the 2K range...

Here's the info i pretty much have, it's a straight body GTU, 200K miles on the odometer reading, 20K miles on the new GTU manual no turbo 88'. Im thinking i might have to re-due the suspension, dont you think?

anyways let me know if this is a fun/good investment for me, i know it's fun to have the car, and yes i have average money to play with and maintain the car, but will the engine live with my racing outputs... lmk rx7 owners, thanks!

What type of racing are you planning to do? If drag racing, then no, you do not want a normally aspirated RX-7, you'd be better off with the turbo. If you're doing autocross, then its a perfect car for it. 50/50 weight balance, neutral handling, and if you keep the revs between 4000-7000rpms, you'll have plenty of power. Don't be afraid of the high rpms, remember that rotary engines don't have any reciprocating parts so they love to rev.

i also just found a older rx-7 also a non turbo im wondering how much power i can get for about 1500$ so far i have added and apexi n1 dual with custom y pipe and have removed the stcok intake i want to go turbo but can only find upgrades any suggestions will you have i will take thank you

You want to upgrade your N/A to a turbo correct? Easier said than done. If you want a turbo RX youre better off buying one than trying to convert your N/A. You will be sinking a ton of $$$ into it to convert it. If you just want more power from the one you have now, there's some relatively cheap mods. The N1 exhaust is a good start though.

yes could you give those tips i could use them ive noticed that some parts are just downright expensive that exhaust set me back almost 800 bucks that is sad for only a cat back system im now considering a 20 b swap i know lol again but it would be a long term thing thanks for any tips again
