96 Ranger fuel pump fuse

I recently got a 96 Ranger for my daughter. I was told it needed a fuel pump but saw that the fuse was blown. Towed it home, replaced the fuse and thought that was the end of it. After about 200 miles it popped the fuse again. Replace the pump thinking it may be drawing too much amperage, but continues to pop fuses. Can't see any pinched or chafed wires anywhere. Put a new ground from pump to frame.
Anybody else have this problem and how did you solve it?
Thanks in advance
