1987 toyota pick-up engine seizure??wazza2020 12-09-2004, 05:38 AM i drive about twelve miles to work and have experienced an overheating and bucking sensation at about mile eight (when it is fairly warm outside) i have worked on tires, brakes, engine shock, carb, dist, and radiator...and even with a new radiator it still get hot but not as bad as the old radiator....but the problem now seems like i am going freeway speed and am suddenly losing speed in an engine that seems to be dying as i am driving....any ideas.? also have had everything checked and everyone says that everything is ok.... i can drive fine when it is cold outside....but when its in the upper 60's upward outside temp....i have this problem at about 6 to 8 miles of freeway driving.... the engine is too hot...i have finally figured out how to make it somewhat better by running the defrost heat in the cab...to keep the temp down ...but still have no idea if i am getting too much gas and flooding out as i drive or not enuf gas..or what....any one with a similar problem please let me know what is going on.... KimMG 12-21-2004, 02:38 AM Have you checked the oil and coolant levels? How old is your water pump? Sometimes on old ones the vanes are worn away. What temp t-stat are you using? Is it sticking? Have your new radiator checked for cold spots (make sure it is not clogged). Did you flush your cooling system? Are your radiator hoses colapsing? Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
