Re: Quickie: Some 91 Turbo MR2 Questions

1. LSD was an option in the 93 and later models. His 91 does not have LSD unless someone added it after ward.

2. The OEM turbo is a CT26, it is a smallish, fast-spooling low-rpm turbo. It runs out of breathe around 5500 rpms.

3. MR2s can be drifted, they are not "good drift" cars. Good drift cars are front-engine and rear-wheel drive.

Hey guys, I thought I would back up this post, seeing as I found a 91 MR2 Turbo I am going to look at soon...

Love yours Jeyklandhyde, I also took the time to read your stories & crashes...Glad your OK!

Where is a good place to read about the cars specs/stock HP and all around info and what to look out for? Do these cars have a timing belt that needs to be changed, what mile interval?

Thanks much for any imput!

Re: Quickie: Some 91 Turbo MR2 Questions

well i guess not all cars need timing belts.

just seemed very specific for someone who hasn't got one.

Re: Quickie: Some 91 Turbo MR2 Questions

Some cars have timing chains that do not need to be replaced. I would think this is a fairly typical question for someone about to look for a used car as it is a big job ($$ wise) and it's nice to know if it has been done recently.

Re: Quickie: Some 91 Turbo MR2 Questions

yeah good point.
it's actually a pretty good question. better than "whats the 1/4 time for the turbo?"

Re: Quickie: Some 91 Turbo MR2 Questions

Thanks again Jekylandhyde...
I have had some Porsche 944 Turbo's and they require them about every 45k miles and also some other cars that don't need them as you mention...(Chains) or without internal belts/chains at all RX-7's...
I have always loved the style of these cars and saw a 91 MR2 Turbo 4 sale locally, I hope to see tommarow...
I already have seen times on the 1/4 miles ha ha...
