I have a 1998 Ford Escort. I dont know why but the rear passenger seat floor is always wet when it rains or snows. My mechanic checked it and he couldnt figure out where the water is entering from ? Please Please Please help....

I have the same problem with a '99 escort wagon. I have just replaced the rear hatch gasket but I don't think this is the problem. Due to the quantity of water entering the vehicle (the spare tire well fills up), I suspect one the side windows or rear hatch glass seal is comprimised. Looking at the window seal design does not look like this is going to be a cheap fix. I will keep you updated.

I'm having the same problem with my 98 Escort. Here's what I've found - Remove your passenger seat and plastic threshold pieces to allow you to lift the carpet up. I'll bet your leaking where the corrugated metal floorboards attach to one another. It looks as though it should have been caulked, but it probably wasn't.

After pulling the carpet back, wait until dark or have the car in your garage. Place a light under your vehicle, and I bet you'll see the light shining through your floor board. I fixed 3 spots in mine. I also have another leak behind the dash on the passenger side that I have not been able to track down. Good Luck.

I have a 95 Escort LX 4-dr hatchback. My spare tire well and the rear quarters were filling with water in no time when it rained/snow melt. I ended up sealing all around the base of the weatherstripping/gasket, all the way around the rear hatch. I used clear sealant. It looks a little funny but it did the trick. Hasn't leaked since I did it 2 years ago.
