5th gen and 6th gen civic engine

hey guys, i currently have a 5th gen civic vtec sohc auto sedan.

im gonna sell it and get a 6th gen civic coupe vtec sohc auto.
is there any real diference in power in auto. like in accelleration and going up a hill. here in australia, the coupes does not have the b16a engines. only in the hatches. so the only way is to swap the engine. i am not going to change to manual.

so is there really any difference,

also, can i do a swap from a d16 to a b16a engine in a auto car. can i use my tranmission.

and one more thing. u guys in the USA, u have a touring car series which has alot of honda's, i see them in magazines. what is that series called and do any of u guys know any sites to get video clips of the races.

The coupe may have more hp, which could make it slightly faster, but I believe that it is heavier than the older sedan. Anyways, chances are that you won't notice a difference because both cars are similar in respect to the drivetrain.

And yes, you can swap a b16 into a car that had a d series engine in it. No you can't use your d series transmission. Only parts with that came from the same series are interchangeable (as in you can use a B18 trans with a B16 engine). If you do a swap, there are many things you need, like mounts, new linkage, axles, ecu, wiring, a/c bracket, etc, etc...

If you want to swap in a B16A and keep it an automatic, you'll have to get ahold of an automatic B16A tranny and ecu for the swap (might has well just buy the whole auto swap). I know there were automatic B16A's in both Europe and Japan.

Thanks, I'll Think About It. Cause I Am Getting The Coupe More For Looks. Lower It And Put 16" Rota Circuit 10 Rims. Im Thinking Of Getting A Cat Back Exhaust, Is There Any Exhaust Which Is Quiet At Low Rpm's And Has A Nice Sporty Exhaust Note At Higher Revs At Around 5000 Rpms. Cause On My Civic Right Now, The Previous Owner Put A 2.5" Pipe And A No Brand Exhaust. It Was Loud So I Changed The Muffler To A Different One. Some Exhaust Shop's Own Brand Version And Its Quieter, But Cause Im With Auto, Even At Low Revs, Its Still Abit Loud. I Want Something Not Lound (stock Sound Level) Untill I Thrash The Car.

What Brand, And Do I Need To Get Headers To Make It Sound Better And Will Headers Really Give Me More Power. I Would Rather Have More Pwer At Lower Revs Rather Than Higher Revs

You can alway have a custom exhaust done. Any good exhaust guy can build you an exhuast and tune the echasut note to fit your needs. You can use resonators to deepen and quiet the tone. I have 2 1/4" cat-back mandrel bent piping with an 18" resonator and a universal muffler. It doesn't sound nearly as loud down low and many pre-made exhausts, and doesn't have that high whiney tone, it gave a nice deeper tone.
