I almost had a 78POS carb 03-01-2002, 01:42 AM Wassup everyone. I was just remembering the 78 Celica I almost got as my first car, it was a 5 speed hatchback GT with all the cool late 70's options but it had a weak ass motor, it was called a 20R I think, had some rust too and a leaking hatch. Anyways I was wondering if those cars are worth fixing up, like maybe dropping in a 2.2 with some nice carbs or an aftermarket EFI? Eric Van Solo 03-01-2002, 08:04 AM With these RWD babies, you can drop in almost any Toyota engines if you have the money. POS carb 03-05-2002, 11:05 AM well crud, if I had money I don't think I'd be driving my 216k mile 87 Accord Lx lol :D Seriously tho, there are no drop in motors for these? Like motors that used the same mounts? I'd obviously need to redo the fuel delivery. GTFOURDREAMS 04-10-2002, 10:19 AM you couldve directly swapped in a 3TGTE motor. 2 liter twin cam 8 valve (2 per cyl) turbocharged CRAZY sob. :) came on japanese Celica GT-Rs (if you want, i can get a picture to rub salt into your wounds... hehehe) POS carb 04-10-2002, 03:01 PM yea man, go for it. I have some nice deep gashes in my hands from working on some tight-engine-bayed Hondas these past few weeks and they could use some salt :stormzap: GTFOURDREAMS 04-11-2002, 01:23 PM http://www.mycgiserver.com/~xiong/3tgte7.jpg 3TGTE engine (i think this is inside a corolla) http://www.mycgiserver.com/~xiong/celica/Dscf0066.jpg japanese RA's http://www.mycgiserver.com/~xiong/celica/celica83.jpg http://www.mycgiserver.com/~xiong/celica/celica84.jpg http://www.mycgiserver.com/~xiong/celica/celica85.jpg http://www.mycgiserver.com/~xiong/celica/celica89.jpg pictures from original brochure GTFOURDREAMS 04-11-2002, 01:34 PM http://www.mycgiserver.com/~xiong/celica76.jpg http://www.mycgiserver.com/~xiong/charlie02.jpg others.. http://www.mycgiserver.com/~xiong/girlwithcar.jpg star wars car (i think) - was a sweepstakes giveaway http://www.mycgiserver.com/~xiong/RA25.jpg http://www.mycgiserver.com/~xiong/RA25_B.jpg more brochure pictures http://www.mycgiserver.com/~xiong/2TG.jpg 2TG http://www.mycgiserver.com/~xiong/3TGTEU.jpg 3TGTE GTFOURDREAMS 04-11-2002, 01:36 PM maybe i should get moderator status for this? :dogpile: :hehe: POS carb 04-14-2002, 11:06 PM damn man I hate to say this but the 78 is a different generation than those, although those are sweet looking cars you posted. The only thing I don't like are those goofy-looking mirrors. Thanks for all the pics tho, where'd you find them?
