new cd player

just got new 2004 sunfire 2.2 liter. took out cd player and am installing new head unit, can't figure out the wiring, i saw a post that took me to a website that had the wiring labeled, but i don't think it will work, labeling and two different wires labeled yellow (left rear speaker-, and and the 12v ingition wire) and ideas of how to get this wiring taken care of.

Re: new cd player

did you get the proper harness for the install? if not then you better get one or I don't think one of the safety features on the car will work. That's going from what I've read on other forums concerning stereos and the newer cars.

Another thing you could do is go to your closest walmart to their stero section and pick up somthing called an adaptor harness. asuming you havn't cut the factory harness off this will plug straight into the factory side and then its a matter of matching the coloured wires off of the deck harness to the ones on the adapter (deck harnesses use a common set of coulors for the different things). This makes most installs very easy and at a cost of less then 20 dollars can. it is worth the cash for svaings in frustration.

Re: new cd player

I'm doing this soon too, and through my research have found out that any car starting in the year 2001 needs some special adapter part. It's like 40 bucks at your nearest car audio store, but without it a lot of the safety features don't work. Also, that ding you hear when the door is open or you leave the lights on will not sound unless you get the part and install it.
