Hello all

I'm a new owner of pre-owned 97 528i which was purchased 1 month ago. In fact, it's the first BMW that i've owned and I love the ride. I need some help, over the last month I have put on 2500 Kms and now when the car is started the OILSERVICE light along with one yellow bar stay illuminated for approx. 10 secs and then go out after the car is started (this just started to happen within the last 2 days). What exactly does this mean?

Also, the other thing i need help with is the OBC. The outside temp reads -40 and has never changed over the last month. Is there a way to reset the OBC (temp) , is it a sensor that needs replacing or is it something else altogether?

Thank-You in advance for any advice that is offered.

I just hope that the ULTIMATE DRIVING MACHINE doesn't end up becoming the ULTIMATE MAINTENANCE MACHINE.

The oil light indicates that you need an oil and filter change. Any garage can do it but they might not have the correct tool or have the knolodge to reset the light. There is a way to do it but Im not 100% on how to do it.

You should have 5 green lights. After 3 of them dissipear only 2 yellow are left. AFter that 1 red. The less lit bars you have the sooner you should get an oil change done. You should get oil changes done becuase the lubricant properities of the oil no longer meet standards.
