2000 sunfire bright light problem

Sunfire has been great 145,000 and only replaced belt and brakes. Went to put car into gear and daytime lights blinked 10 times. Went to put on bright lights and lost all headlights. Any similiar problems and heard any solution to this. Don't want to take it in if minor or really expensive.

Multifunction switch - i think it's located just in behind the glovebox. Had tonnes of cars with that problem through the shop, and that's what it was every time, except for one, which had a bad relay

Exclamation same problem here

My daughter has a 2000 sunfire. Had same clikking noise coming from the relay. Did it for me once and DRL's came on. Days later no such luck. DRL's and high and low beams INOP. I replaced DRL relay, no change. Can someone give my details on malfunction swith.

Re: 2000 sunfire bright light problem

I got 2000 Pontiac Sunfire GT.
No DRL or high beam on the right side. Checked everything, wiring, fuse boxes, relays, switches etc. Had to take front light, battery and air filter to check another relay.
It is either low on both, or high on the left side only. Still trying to figure it out.

you probably just need new blubs, when they go out the blink several times to let you know that one is out, it might the the highs on both bulbs

Re: 2000 sunfire bright light problem

I got new bulbs. The problem is, there is not enough voltage (power) coming in to the right light. It is enough for low but not high. It is a common problem with sunfires. Some people just shorten two yellow wires in the front relay, some just bypass the switch box...
To be continued
