dummy lights stay onbrs555 11-30-2004, 02:22 PM my sonomas dummy lights stay on when i start the car. theyre supposed to all come on when u first start it and then go off. some do, others dont. sometimes they all go off. sometimes they all stay on. my guages dont work as far as the fuel battery and temp along when the lights dont work . my spedometer always works fine. any suggestioons? help! busa_4 11-30-2004, 02:29 PM you might have a cluster malfunction. what lights stay on? busa_4 11-30-2004, 02:30 PM oh yeah! check your alternator output and your battery. if the voltage gets to low your dummy lights will turn on. brs555 11-30-2004, 03:23 PM oh yeah! check your alternator output and your battery. if the voltage gets to low your dummy lights will turn on. i noticed my dummy light "security" stays on all the time. even when there are no keys in the car and its all locked up. i think that may be the cause of the other lights?? its differnet lights that come on and stay on. the lights that always come on are the "low fuel" "security" "abs" and "battery". my fuel guage doesnt work when the low fuel light is on. the alternator output is 14 volts on my instrument guage. the battery is less then one year old. Here's an idea, most idiot lights will come on when you first turn the key on or during start, this is called the bulb check. What year vehicle are we talking about?
