Shit we're in the Ghetto we can't afford 50 g's??? He just have enough for that engine he always wanted. F81 3rR0r 03-20-2002, 05:33 AM Why don't you stick w/ an affordable project. Ask anyone about supras, the parts are expensive. I figured if he had the money to buy the bone stock front clip for $6,000, he was going to lighten the pig also. After all, weightxc.id. still wins races. If you can't build the engine and mod the car don't even waste your time halfassing it. By the way, my initial response was the method I used to run 9.8's. Speed=$$$$$$$$$$ remember that! mellowboy 03-20-2002, 09:52 AM Originally posted by F81 3rR0r Why don't you stick w/ an affordable project. Ask anyone about supras, the parts are expensive. Well i know that. He doesn't wanna go all out. Well can you atleast tell me how much is the whole swap gonna cost. Cause this place he's buyin it from cost him like 3500? I don't think he cares about weight reduction and all? I know that supra parts are expensive but hey he is willing to spend some money on his car.He just really wants that engine. He just wants to know what is needed to put the engine in car? Thanks man. F81 3rR0r 03-21-2002, 07:48 AM Before I get into the stuff he needs to do the swap at minimal cost, you should print this article out and show him this: www.supras.com/sogi/techtips/head2.txt There is nothing wrong w/ the 7M-GTE engine that an HKS stopper gasket and ARP head bolts do not cure. The only reason I did the swap was because of high boost concerns and nitrous injection. If it were me building a budget street supra, I would keep the 7M-GTE engine and build the piss out of it after all where are you really going to use 800rwhp+ on the street? You could get 550-650rwhp out of the 7M-GTE. The main problem with this car is its weight, almost 4,000lbs. w/driver. Thats why it gets smoked by other imports. You can loose alot of weight by ditching front and rear bumpers change the rear to 9" Ford, etc. With the money he saved by not buying the 2JZ-GTE, he could have the rear end, haltech computer,TH350 tranny( I know autos are boring but they win and thats the result your looking for.)race prepped, head gasket, bolts, driveshaft and maybe a turbo upgrade. Okay enough about the 7M-GTE. These sites will help out with the swap: www.toysport.com-they did one bone stock www.driveshaftshop.net/index2.ivnu The crucial bare minimum for the swap: ECU and all engine compartment harnesses from a 2JZ-GTE this includes the tranny harness. either the auto or 6 speed from a 2JZ supra the engine naturally, only the 2JZ-GTE not the 2JZ-GE custom driveshaft maybe the stocker will work I do not know, I have a custom one. intake and exhaust manifolds some do not come with them. motor mounts from 2JZ ignition components they are distributorless. Thats all I can think of right now, If I lived up there I'd help ya for free, unfortunately, thats not the case. It's going to be a tough job, so stay determined, it took 8 years to build mine. I'm not exactly loaded w/cash either.
