'03 Maintenance Light

My g/f's Civic just had this light come on, the one on the dash that reads Maintanance Required or something like that. When it came on the first time, around 6,000 miles or so she took it to the dealer she paid like %50 for the to flip a swtich or whatever and tell her it was because apparently the car is set to display that light when it is ready for an oil change or tire rotation every 10,000 miles. So my question is, is there any way I can turn the light off without having to go to the dealer?

There may be. Some cars do give the buyer the option to turn off this light. My best advice would be to look it up in the instruction book. Yeah, I know...but you really do have to read the manual to do this though!

Yeah, i found out that if you hold the odometer reset for 10 seconds after you start up the car it will go out.

On my 04, if you hold down the odometer button while the car is off and then start the car and keep holding the button down the light will turn off.
