troubleMoJeeN 11-25-2004, 02:00 PM When I put py transfer case into 4L it makes an awful grinding noise. But only when in 4L. Not when it's in AWD. Ideas? xj31 11-25-2004, 04:19 PM is this when it is already in lo or when you are trying to put it in lo?If you don't do it right,it will make a lot of noise when you try to put it in lo.You have to put the trans in neutral, slow down to about 2 or 3 mph and then put it in lo.It might grind for a split second, that is normal. dksob81 11-25-2004, 04:37 PM XJ is right, if it is making the grinding while trying to get it into 4LO then u moving too fast/tranny in gear. do what XJ said, I recommend coming to a complete stop and placing tranny in nuetral then put the transfer case styraight back to 4LO without stopping. MoJeeN 11-26-2004, 10:40 AM No, I'll be at a complete stop, trans in neuteral or park, once the lever is engaged, and I begin to roll... The problem turned out to be that the tcase wasn't fully locking into 4lo, from what I remember it wasn't a very expensive repair, but this could be something entirely different.
