Question regarding Radio and CD Changer (use as aux input)

Morning:

I have a 1995 Oldsmobile Aurora. I do not have the Bose sound package. The Aurora currently has the standard stock radio which consists of a CD player, tape deck, and AM/FM tuner.

I would like to hook up the XM Commander so I can enjoy satellite radio. I have research my options and the best way (in terms of sound quality) is to convert the factory CD changer cable into a RCA aux input.

Now, here is where I'm confused. I will be using a P.I.E. adapter which makes the factory radio think there's a CD changer present while providing the RCA inputs. I have looked up the part number for the CD changer cable which is 12344003. What I do NOT understand is how I access switch the radio to "CD changer mode".

The manual says to press the "Tape/CD" button. However, I already have a CD player built-in to the radio. Does the CD changer (when connected) override the single disc player? Or do I just have to simply hit the button twice to cycle from the single disc player to the changer? Or will none of this work?

Any and all help would be appreciated. Thanks!

not sure about how to wire the CD changer to become aux in then how to access it, have you considered a FM mod off your sat that can be hooked through your antenna input on back of radio?

Re: Question regarding Radio and CD Changer (use as aux input)

Wiring the CD changer cable into an AUX input is easy. All you do is use a P.I.E. adapter. I don't really want to use a FM modulator for it because of the sound quality issue.

What I need to know is how do I change from the built-in CD player to the "CD changer" (aka aux input) using the stock/factory radio?

Adapters can be found at http://www.pie.net/.

just push cd button again. It will cycle between the changer, cd, or tape if all three are available.
