93 S10 4x4 info

I can't get juice to the 4x4 switch. Iv'e tried it in all gears, key on and off. All the fuses in the fuse box test hot. Does the 93 S10 use a maxi fuse? If so where is it located? Also where to find relay? Thanks yc180

Re: 93 S10 4x4 info

if your 4x4 comp is blown............the lights wont work.............one thing you could try is....getting one from a yard.....and swaping it.......see if the 4x4 works..............
i to had the same problem intermitenly.....when my comp was goin bad,,,,,btw....its the small metal box that sits on the main comp..under the pass side kick panel.....remove panel.....one bolt holds the box in...take it down un bolt the lil box..and replace..............hope this helps...........

have you checked the ground wire that comes out from the 4x4 switch harness and is grounded to the back side of the right head?
just a thought..

Re: Re: 93 S10 4x4 info

Thanks for the reply(s). They did lead me to check the electrical more closely. Here is the solution to my problem.

2 problems,

1) A mechanic who didn't put the vacum hoses on the transmission correctly. Shit its hard to find qualified people these days. The hose connector is keyed, and still the screwed it up.

2) The 2wD to 4wD is a manual shift. The shifter also controls a switch which changes the indicator lights (2wd 4wd or 4wdlow) There is a power harness and harness to the switch in the assembly by the shift. The harness(s) plug into a printed cct board holding the indicator lights for this assembly. Don't ask me why, but a trace was blown clean off of this board. I bridged the blown trace, fixed up the vacum problem and bingo, 4wd.

My guess is the vacum problem lead to the trace blowing. Why, vacum would affect the electrical in this manner is beyond me.
