Question 2002 sl1 1.9 soch (gurgeling noise from engine/trans)

I have a 2002 sl1 1.9 soch saturn and when you are stopped and the auto trans is in drive it makes a gurgeling sound from the drivetrain
it has been doing this since new, but it keeps getting louder,
i have serviced the trans at 50000 miles like the owners manual says.
the car has 67000 miles on it now,
also it does not idel as smooth as it used to and i replaced the spark plugs at 60000 miles.
so any help would be gratefully accepted.

oh one more thing how long do thes cars last(how many miles before they crap out and dieon you?) this is my frist saturn,
and my first fwd car( I always had a rwd cars before this )
but this car has been pretty reliable and excellen on fuel

thanks

I have a 97, manual trans., the only gurgling noise I have ever heard has come from the coolent system. Never the transmission. It seems to mostly make the noise when the cars first warming up and hardly ever does it besides that.

I think my problem is in the valve train or the timeing chain
this car never had much maintennence( oil changes)
now it runs rough the intake manifold is full or carbon, it uses oil and coolant , i took out th pcv valve and it was covered in black thick oily crap(sludge) so i have a pretty good idea where the problem lies.
This is a friends car they are always low on money so there you go because of that bam prematurely wore out 4 banger,
