track story: GSR owner mad at CRX (funny)PFCfutrell 02-24-2002, 07:10 AM I went to the track again to try and better my 60' foots, my car's pretty slow so I wasn't really competing against anyone. I was lined up with a GSR (pre-94) and I ran a 16.1 (woohoo!!!) the funny part was later in the staging lanes. He came up while I was waiting for another run to ask what i'd done to my car, I told him all it had was an intake, he explained that he meant what engine I had, I told him it was stock, D16A6. He said "yeah right", i said "seriously, want me to pop the hood?", he said something like "a stock SI wouldn't keep up with me" and turned around. I'm thinking "does he think i'm a f*in liar?" so I hop out and say "holdup, i'm popping the hood" open the hood, show him the intake, challenge him to find anything other than the intake and blue plug wires. It's not like i kicked his ass when we raced, i just kept up with him for the first couple of gears which really seemed to piss him off. While i was making another run a friend of mine overheard him in the staging lanes bitching about either his car used to be faster or it needs to be faster, I can't remember. I couldn't believe that he thought I was lying about my mods, i'm not hiding anything and we weren't racing for money so it didn't matter who won anyways. I was just trying to better my launch, the fact that he was in the lane next to me and I was staying next to him for a little while wasn't my fault. Anybody else have a similar situation? someone not believing you when you tell them your mods because your car performed better than they believed it should? cybercrx00 02-24-2002, 10:03 AM just out of curiosity, what is the purpose of removing the front sway bar. I have the suspension techniques front and rear, and the dramatically improved my handling. Blackbird01 02-24-2002, 11:31 AM Well, I dont know about removing it on a front wheel drive car, bu I've taken my front swaybar off as well. Mine weighed about 40 lbs. and without it, the car is a lot lighter up front. Basically, it's for those interested in DRAG RACING only. On a road course, it would drive very sloppy! NSX-R-SSJ20K 02-24-2002, 02:08 PM erm removing it??? i'd take out the back seat (if there is one) and the spare tire cuz those ruin your axles anyways 327belair 02-24-2002, 07:46 PM removing the front sway bar takes weight off the front, thus aiding weight transfer to the rear wheels on launch, the back seat and spare tire are near the rear axle, and can help traction NSX-R-SSJ20K 02-24-2002, 11:30 PM a CRX is front wheel drive so you would want weight at the front for better traction wouldn't you? NSX-R-SSJ20K 02-24-2002, 11:41 PM http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/986213confused.jpg you know what 327 belair i have no fucking clue what you are talking about i am guessing that blackbird knows this and the guy in the CRX doesn't care since his car is FWD kidrocket 02-24-2002, 11:45 PM NSX you like to give people shit dont you? he was just saying what the normal use for removing the sway bar would be so chill out NSX-R-SSJ20K 02-24-2002, 11:47 PM whatever it really has no relavance VieTxRiceRocket 02-24-2002, 11:47 PM CRX is FF (front engine, front wheel drive). Removing the front sway bar helps in drag b/c there's no need to turn, and the torque transfer isn't worth the added 40 lbs. I think people like that are just uneducated about cars. Something like that has never happened to me (cuz I don't race that much), but when I hear stories like the one about the M3, it just shows that the guy just isn't educated about stuff like that. He thought there was a V8 under the hood of a Honda? I think that's kind of funny. Blackbird01 02-25-2002, 09:56 PM I've had a bunch of people think I'm spraying my car. A lot of people also thought I had a blower on the car. LOL. That was when it had a couple of bolt ons! Frostbyte 03-07-2002, 07:29 PM I raced a CRX with once and I beat him bad. I hit a 16.43 when I just had my intake and the short throw nothing else. Now I wonder if I would hit 16's what do you guys think. My mods are below. cybercrx00 03-07-2002, 07:31 PM looks like the only performance mod you added was an exhaust, so you probably won't be a whole lot faster than before Polygon 03-07-2002, 09:16 PM Hehe, what a dork. Gets all pissed off because you kept with him for a couple of gears. If his car is stock then it isn't like he is anything real special. His turbo is only doing about 8-9PSI. Next time you see him laugh at him once for me. PFCfutrell 03-10-2002, 01:24 AM Originally posted by Frostbyte I raced a CRX with once and I beat him bad. I have a '91 SI and the only engine mod is a short ram intake with which I run a 16.1. If it was a first gen or a non-SI then I could see how you beat him but a 16.4 is slower than my worst runs, where I totally fuck up the launch. With the exhaust your car might be as fast as mine, I don't know how much of a difference it'll make so you should post some times. liquid8 03-15-2002, 02:16 AM pfcfutrell. i can't believe you have an 8-ball shift knob. Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
