Checking a car for flood damage

Hey all--

On a purchase of a used vehicle, what are the signs you're looking for to see if the vehicle has been damaged or submerged in a flood?

I know the obvious things, checking the gauges, underneath the doors, and I'm getting a CARFAX report. But what other indicators should I check for?

Thanks for commentary.

Look along all the body panels and hood doors trunk etc and make sure the gaps are even
other then that you dont need anything other then CARFAX

A submerged car smells funky, it oftem will have dirt and debris in odd places, such as behind the dashboard and will often destroy electronic components, rendering some electrical devices non-functional.
However, if it has been submerged and repaired properly, it should be fine.
