What is the difference between the 2000 jetta gl and the gls? anything performance wise?

The GLS model has more standard features than the GL, such as cruise control and power mirrors. Both have the same base engine, the 2.0 liter 4 cyl. with 115 hp. and 122 lbs/ft of torque. With the GLS, it is an option to get the 1.8 liter turbo 4 cyl. with 150 hp and 155 lbs/ft of torque. I just got a 96 GLS with the 2.0, my roommate has a '01 1.8t. Both jettas are completely stock, I'll probably race him soon, so if your interested, I'll let you know how much faster the 1.8t is.

The 1.8T has a serious air compression. I like the GL because you can take everything out and really race it... less options to take out when you gut it...
