rough idle after installation of short ram intake

aight, short and sweet....just completed my short ram intake system tonight and my ralliart idles like ass. i heard it's because the mafs doesn't know what the crap is going on and my car can actually run leaner possibly harming the engine. can i get this tuned? anyway to fix it? (i.e. change the resistor in the mafs?) anywhere i can go?

thanks.

btw, when the mivec kicks in...you can DEF tell a difference in h.p. and it sounds better than ever!

take the negative terminal off your battery. leave it off for 10 minutes and then put it back on. drive around for about 10-15 miles, changing gears and rev's every so often. you've gotta let the computer re-learn the intake numbers after the install. after that it should idle like normal.

the first tim you start it it might startle you a bit, it may rev hard once you turn te key but it'll calm down drive like normal after that.

hey man. thanks a lot. gonna try it later today. i thought reseting the computer would do it, just wasn't sure if it would or not.

spanks again!

aight...since i installed my short ram intake i have been very scared that i am hurting my engine. it doesn't run right. it idles very hard at times. the lights even dim when i come to a stop! and there is a hesitation of acceleration when i step on the gas. can someone help please? i am taking a 300mi round trip tomorrow and don't want to dork up my car.

p.s. i have tried reseting the computer by disconnecting the battery for at least 10 minutes...still acts bad.

?? fyi. this is a custom intake i made and i'm not saying it's perfect. could it be because i'm using too big of tube? (3") with a cone filter on the end?

if someone can post pics, i'll take one to see what it's like. also...is this leaning out my engine? possible harming it?

can i take it to a tuner and they can fix it?

what if i put a different resistor in the mafs?

should i need to do this in the first place?

anyone else have this prob?

i heard...that an engine can only suck in a limited amount of air. could it be that i'm providing too much air for it to suck it?

thanks in advance!

make sure all te hoses are hooked up, if there's a rebreather (hose from the valve cover to the intake piping) make sure that's on tight. if that's loose or off completely, it'll me sucking in air after the MAS and the computer will get confused and run like ass. make sure all your clamps and hoses are tight and there's no place for air to leak through. post some pics if you can and hopefully we'll be able to figure it out.

as for the engine getting too much air, i seriously doubt that's true. it'll only take it what it wants to, it's not like your forcing air into the engine.

i just realized you said it's a custom intake, did you leave the stock rubber elbow at the throttle body, did you move the MAF sensor or re mount it differently?
