I'm doing the motor oil change myself this time, how many quarts do I need for 1997 328i Auto? Any tthickness recommendations? People have said 5/30 is the way to go. I'm in a sunny place, San Diego.

I believe 6 quarts (it's in the manual) I always go with synthetic (weight is in the manual)

7 quarts of oil goes in your car if you're changing oil and filter. I use 15w50 Mobil 1 Synthetic. That oil lasts a LOOONG time. Maintenance manuals state "6 7/8 quarts" when changing oil and filter.
