Supercharger for a b16 crxTeggyLS 11-05-2004, 05:01 AM ok I have recently purchased a 1990 CRX. I have a JDM b16 (88-91 civic SIR) sitting in my garage. Now im looking at installing it with a supercharger all at the same time. I was just wondering about fit issues, and which supercharger would make the most sense. I looked at the jackson racing site and it wasnt much help and all i saw at the vortech site was a 1.6l Civic SI kit, would this fit on my b16? Any help would be greatly apprectiated. I was gonna buy a new RSX but a 1000 dollar CRX came in my way and i couldnt resist, I can make it very nice, for way cheaper. mmm sleeper. Anyways, just looking for something around 7 psi, to get me around 200 horses to the wheels. Just a daily driver to have some fun with. THnx 97CivicX 11-05-2004, 03:17 PM it should bolt up fine. i do believe that all the b16 heads are the same bolt patterns TeggyLS 11-05-2004, 03:29 PM ya, i kinda figured it would bolt up, was just wondering if it would fit in the crx engine bay. Thanks for the info though, any thoughts on the vortech. superbluecivicsi 11-12-2004, 02:16 PM minor modifications are needed on the chassis of an eg civic, but on the crx, i dont know. shouldnt be anything major. as far as bolting right up, it should be fine. You should however find out if there will be any problems with the under the hood fitment though. there are plenty of guys out there who have put the JRSC into a b16 crx, you just have to find one of em. Not so sure, about the vortech though. b16 crx kid 11-27-2004, 08:44 AM Hasport offers a JRSC for B16's in CRX's, http://www.hasport.com sportycivic 12-03-2004, 03:37 AM Hasport offers a JRSC for B16's in CRX's, http://www.hasport.com I have a 2000 si and have the vortech supercharger that i am trying to get rid off cause too many tickets and im tryin to sell my car so email me and give me an offer i can get you pictures if you would like . CRX VTEC TURBO 12-07-2004, 01:55 AM if i could I would suggest going with a turbo rather than a supercharger, i may be making my case too late and it may not matter.....superchargers generally do have good points to them though, they are usually more effecient than turbo's. However, with the b16's and other engines that run at unusually high rpms, the turbocharger would definetly kick in a nice boost of horse power (when set up right). Plus money talks sometimes, and turbo kits are typically less expensive...they were in my case. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/265647diesel_honda_01451.JPG 97integrals 12-08-2004, 12:23 AM if i could I would suggest going with a turbo rather than a supercharger, i may be making my case too late and it may not matter.....superchargers generally do have good points to them though, they are usually more effecient than turbo's. A supercharger is driven by the crank and takes power to make power. A turbo uses wasted energy, exhaust gases, to make power. CRX VTEC TURBO 12-08-2004, 12:03 PM what you say is true, however turbos have 'negative' set backs like turbo lag, and such. typically, turbos are designed to give a 50% increase in hp but usually give around 40%...that is the inefficiency I am talking about. However, I have a turbo in my crx, and I haven't found any 'negative' set backs, its fun as hell. that is why I reccommend it! CRX VTEC TURBO 12-08-2004, 12:05 PM I guess its best stated that superchargers = power whenever you want it, while turbo's must spool up and such. despite this though, the turbos are better for the high rev motors like these hondas. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
