Custom Exhaust?
Rather then buying an expensive cat-back that I can't seem to find with a 3" pipe that I like for my '99 LS I think I'm gonna attempt a custom job. I'm looking at the Tanabe Race Tuner Medallion muffler with a 3" inlet diameter. Any input on this piece or suggestions for other similar styles? I would then be faced with having to have the piping bent and welded. What type of piping would best be used and where can this be purchased? Would Summit Racing have what I'm looking for? I might have someone that is capable of doing the work I just need to find the right materials.

Re: Custom Exhaust?
Not sure if this helps but I had a muffler shop do 2.5 on my car with Apexi N1 muffler. I beleive they used aluminum. They used straight tubing then bent it to fit. But I think Summer may have some tubing thats already bent you just have to cut it up and weld it together. The custom job cost me about $225 at Rainbow Muffler.

Re: Custom Exhaust?
3" might be a little much for a teggie, like i would probably go with 2.5, also i dont feel you will get quite as much of a gain by having a custom exhaust done vs. buying a bolt on catback. But your not gonna get crazy hp gains from an exhaust anyway. But thats just my opinion.

Yeah my Accord sounds alot faster than it is, check this site out http://www.thermalrd.com/acura.htm they have a turbo 3" exhaust for the integra.

Re: Custom Exhaust?
Yeha its for a turbo integra, but he mentioned a 3" exhaust so there it is. I think they are the only people to make a 3 incher for the teg

Re: Custom Exhaust?
if its for a turbo car then, once again just my opinion, it doesnt matter quite as much if you get a custom one done, actually i probably would get a custom one made over a bolt on. Just because of different backpressure needs. But then again i dont own a turbo car so you probably know better than me.

Re: Custom Exhaust?
Well I was going to do a 3" on my accord but they said they couldn't make it fit. So maybe a bolt on would be better since its garunteed to fit. Who knows. Not sure how a 3" would work on a NA integra; probably sound pretty cool though

A 3" exhaust on N/A integra is going to produce less power than your stock system. N/A cars require some backpressure to create enough velocity to force the exhaust gasses out. On N/A cars bigger is not better! On a turbo car bigger is better because it does not need the backpressure to create velocity. A 3" pipe on a N/A integra is overkill; you want to go with a 2.5" pipe. If it is a turbo integra then a 3" pipe will work fine.

Re: Custom Exhaust?
i dont know, depends on the size, brand if you go with that, etc. I'd say 3-6hp at the most.
