95 grand am problems

I was wondering if anyone knows how to remove the center console from a 95 grand am? Also my power lock button stopped working but when I put it into gear they still automatically lock. Does anyone know why that is. Last but not least my cigerette lighter is not working when at all, and i need it to charge my iPod and cell phone. Does anyone know how to fix any of this? Thanks alot for your help!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: 95 grand am problems

ok...the door locks and cigarette lighter are more than likely a blown fuse because they both run on the same one. I blew mine by accidentally dropping a penny in the lighter...shocked myself too so watch out for that...

The center console is relatively easy. You hafta take off the cover by your knees (3 screws on the bottom) then you hafta pull on it pretty hard cuz its held in by clips. (If your car is a 5 speed then putting that piece BACK ON is tricky because of the e-brake release). After that pull open the top glove box and unscrew it until you can pull it completely out of the dash (i think theres 5 screws). Then theres one more screw on the left side of the center console that sits back in. After you remove that one it should just come right out. (You might wanna just look around for more screws in case im forgeting one)

Hope i helped and didnt confuse you too bad...if i did just let me know and i'll try to give more descriptive instructions

the door switch on the drivers door goes first because it gets wet when the window is open replace the switch, you can pop the switch out with out removing the panel

Re: 95 grand am problems

Not related to your questions but I just had a problem with my hazard lights. They stopped working and when I had them on, my brake lights and turn signals stopped working. The brake lights and turn signal also didn't work for a bit after I shut the hazards off. Almost got my wife rear ended. Just got it fixed yesterday, got a new hazard and turn switch, cost over $300 CDN.
