VW mods

I have in the past on this forum talked about mods you can do to your VW I am more of a VR6 person but know a bit about most other mods for VW's 1.8T, 2.0 8v, and 1.8 and 2.0 16v. If I don't know the answer I can put you in the righ direction where to go websites to look at and magazines to pick up to find out more about what you are looking for. If anyone on this website needs info on VW modding state it on this thread and I will help as much as possible. Thanks.

Re: VW mods

Try calling the people at Techtonics or the people at Matrix motors. I know Techtonics has been working on VW's for the past 20-25 years. Rich at EIP maybe able to help also. Sorry I can't do anymore to help.
You can get to techtonics, matrix, and EIP on the web or you can get a Eurotuner or a European Magazine and they should have their advertisements in them.
Also try Bahn Brenner they are a known VW after market company.

Re: VW mods

Cool Thanks Edspec it's been about a week since I checked this thread so what area are good in with VW as in engines and such. I saw your response in the VR6 turbo for the GTI. So what do you think about the kinetics turbo kit?

Re: VW mods

to tell you the truth, i haven't really heard much bout that kit, so i looked it up.the site doesn't say much about it in terms of specs, so i cant really tell much from it...

and i have a 1.8t, and an upgraded turbo isn't in my short term list of mods yet..

Re: VW mods

Well that's not a bad choice considering that I believe you should get as much as you can out of your stock turbo b/c when/if you do upgrade it you will know your car more. If that makes any sense.

You read about the new 2.0 FSI engine yet should be pretty cool. I want to get one in late 07-08 b/c the first 2 years will be VW tweaking out the gremlins with it.

Re: VW mods

yeah thats what i plan on doing, swapping the 2.0 FSI motor into my car. it has alot of the same components as the 1.8T, so it shouldn't take as long getting the bugs out as it did for us. also vw doesn't usually have problems with motors, they tend to mess up on other parts of the car (ie. window regs, rear window, shift light)

but i wont reveal too much yet... cuz i dont want anyone else swapping before me! haha, too bad it'll be in 1.5 years... someone better not beat me to it... grr....

your better off supercharging the vr6 rather than turbo! it cost the same price... here is some good info

Re: VW mods

matters what your looking for and what your preferences are. im biased, i have a 18t, so im a turbo kinda guy. superchargers make the same amount of power as a comparable turbo, if not more top end hp, but a turbo will always beat a sc in terms of torque.

theres alot more to consider in choosing between s/c and turbos than just price (even tho price is usually the only factor...)

Re: VW mods

From what I've researched the most powerful super charger for the VR6 is the C2 motorsports super charger I think it's like 270 or 280 whp for stage 1.
I think the C2 S/C is like $3500.00 I could be wrong.

For a inexpensive turbo set up for $2500.00 is the Kinetics stage 1 which gives 245whp and 255whtq. Stage 2 should give you between 300-320whp.
got to go will be back.
