94-95 mustang GT vs. civic si

I was in traffic today and i heard a V8 rev to about 4 or 5 thousand rpms behind me. I didnt know what it was until it pulled up beside me. It was a green 94-95 bodystyle GT with a 5.0. He had huge tires in back and a big tach on his dash and some wierd rear sunstrip that i couldnt read. We couldnt get a light, so when traffic opened up he was behind me and we both gunned it. I put some distance between us, and slowed for traffic. My turn came up and he was following me so i pulled into the left lane and he pulled into the right after the the turn. We started from about 40 mph so i dropped into 2nd. Since it was wide open road from there on out, i kept goin to about 95-100. He was about 2 carlengths behind when i hit the flashers. he was pissed too. He hit his steering wheel and pulled a flyby when i got into the turn lane.
It turns out he followed me just to race because he took the next turn and turned around and came back the other direction while i was still in the turn lane
If only i could do the same against my friends 2000 GT

Uhhh...What happened here? First, the 94+ style Mustangs don't have a 5.0, a 4.6 instead. That was a casual mistake though, no harm done. However, I am wondering how you managed to beat him at all...Maybe driver ability, and you just plain outdrove him, that's definately possible. Or maybe you have a mod you didn't list:D Just curious, b/c you actually should lose this racer pretty handily:D

actually they didnt get the 4.6 until 96
notice how the badges on the sides just say mustang GT instead of GT 4.6
and the 5.0 in 94-95 was rated at something like 230 hp so its quite possible that it happened. I was able to hang with my friends 95 cobra when it was stock until about 60 when he would pull away pretty quick.
then he got a 99 cobra and it was a whole other story

surosis what do you drive id like to know. The term ricer is not an endearing one. in fact, its quite offensive to be put in the same category as the high school kids running around in DXs revving on cobras, just because they have washer nozzle lights and an APC universal GTR wing.
If i was you id get my shit straight before i go around talking shit to people hiding behind a screen. did you get beat by a civic or something?
personally i hope a mod locks your shit out but what can i do right?

I forgot what class the Civic falls into again? Would it be the 16 year old girls first car class?

okay when someone says what they DONT drive instead of telling us what they DO drive its a pretty good sign they DONT drive anything at all. also he doesnt list his birthday, probably cuz hes 13 or so, judging by the maturity and intelligence in his posts.
im sure an "underachieving civic" would smoke XSuROsIOX's huffy any day
tell us what u drive, or stop talking shit about cars that are better than the car (by car i mean pair of nike's) u own.
calling people stupid names and being a dick in general wont get u repect from anyone, domestic or import. i know u think youre cool by doing that, but youre wrong. if u dont like hondas, why are u in the honda forum? cuz u have no life and nothing better to do right? that is probably because u have no car and have to ask mommy for a ride every time u wanna go to the mall right? grow up kid, display a little intelligence in your posts and maybe somebody will listen to u.

I hate it when people post wins and races when they are going 100+ MPH down the highway. I do not consider it a fair race unless they are both at dead stop and then they go. That is a fair race. That way you know that both car and starting the same. On the highway there could be one car holding it at 6000 rpms and the other one may not be ready to race. That is not a real race. More like playing around.

that is very true i agree with that
thats why its probably better to do it at a track i mean who honestly tackles a corner in a street race?

Quick question...how does one know if another person was banned/blocked from being able to post? I hope he wasn't claiming domestic, cause we don't want him either. A fella like that doesn't deserve to advocate anything. Anyhow, being new to this forum, I'm seeing many cars on here that I like, y'all keep doing what you're doing, makes streets and tracks more competitive, nothing wrong with that. :D

No prob, just calling out a TRUE enthusiest when I see one. :) I don't by any means hate on domestics, yeah I prefer imports, but no reason or need to hate on domestics. Gotta love the classics especially. But yeah, all it takes is one sour apple that belongs on a Shwinn forum to begin with (hating on heck knows what cars) and he makes ALL of use look bad, esp. the side he associates himself with, which he never really specified, which leads me to believe he's just a 12 year old with WAY too much time on his hands, and a bad driving experience. Eitherway, I'd love to see someone such as you, BlkCameroSS stick around on here, we have our resident domestic drivers on here that always provide lots of positive feedback, and VERY interesting race stories (better than most of the import one's I've read on here ;) )and they know when to call the BS stories when they see it, and don't flame members for it, unless the person is just a complete moron. But I totoally agree, we all win some, and lose some if we race, but it's the sportmanship of it all that's rewarding no matter the outcome. Anyone that hates on a car because they lost to it, NEEDS to have their car taken away from them, along with their rights to be an auto enthusiest, period!

I 100% agree with you, but I think that what he was trying to imply was that a Civic is in the class of a girl's first car and not a performance category to boot. He was just being a dickhead, he wasn't saying girls can't drive it's kind of like telling a guy that he plays ball like a girl, understand my view?
For reference though, I'm teaching a female friend of mine how to drive stickshift, and get this, she learned how to drive stickshift in ONE day, and she's 16, (I'm just 18 so don't get the wrong idea, she's a FRIEND) AND she only stalled out once. When I was learning to drive stickshift I stalled out a billion times. And she wants to learn how to race because she plans on getting an Integra. If she gets a GSR I'll have to test the product for her a couple of times to give it my approval. :D

the Gt had a huge tach, and it sounded like it had exhaust or an Xpipe or something.. at the time, all i had on my car was CAI, and a shortshifter..
since then i have only added a catback, but i beat another 94-95 GT yesterday in Overland Park. My bro, BlkCamaroSS was in the car with me, and he was surprised on how fast i was pulling on that one

Even with those mods wouldnt you be in the high 15s? Depending on if the GT was an auto or not it would be any where from mid 14s to low 15s. Your a heck of a driver.

i dunno. i really need to take it to the track..
ive seen SIs run high 14s with just IHE and a shortshifter, but that is def. the exception rather than the rule..
i beat a guy in a lude that told me he ran 15.3, but again, the street is quite different than the track
the stang was a stick

Mustang weights about 3300lbs with 5-speed trans. Not sure on the Si.

a 2000 Honda Civic Si weighs 2600lbs.

Stock is 160 hp at the flywheel. I think it's about 140 on a dyno though.

So, the 2000 Si has to move 16.25lbs with each hp. While the GT has 15.34lbs per each hp. Giving the GT the advantage.

I'll give the advantage to the Mustang as well. If your Civic is as loaded as my friend's Hyundai Elantra (air filter and intake, custom header, high tension wire and race spark plugs, torsion bar, power flow and large exhaust), you still won't win against a Mustang per se. My friend is practical: he can't beat a Mistubishi Galant VR, and that Galant's stock, not modified. Maybe it will go down to driver ability--my bestfriend and I were able to pull up to a Volvo with a 1300 Honda City (1998 model). That car is much less powerful than a Civic, but it went down to driver ability, not the machine's.

You mean what my 1300 Honda City had? Well, until now it's still stock, nothing added. Maybe the Volvo's driver isn't a good one, so we were able to get alongside him. If he's a good one, we might not be able to even get close to him. Like I said, it went down to driver ability (and my bestfriend was the one driving, not me, just to clarify).

ok this is the last straw.
i got this car and their is no way in hell a civic will beat a 95 mustang GT without a shit load of mods.
im not a big mustang fan however i do own one.
and i admit they are not the quickest thing out their. but i must say no
civic can beat one!
some prelude standards can do it but not a civic. especialy if your in motion
a civics got a quick jump off the line but the buck stops their.
the 95 mustang convertable automatic! can beat the folwing cars with ease
Chrystler 300M
mazda.. millineum s
porshe 944. not the turbos or the s
as a matter of a fact i smoked a civic with mods not to long ago
and this was before i did any mods to my mustang.
I saw him trying to race a Trans AM and decided i wanted a,
pice. I admit the civic was fast. it probably had a supercharger because it was hauling ass for a civic. It even hung with me for a bit on my clime to 110
from about 70 but once i started my assult at 115 to 130+ it was all over and the TA was my objective.
this is the only civic that ever came close to me.
all others have been nothing but weak jokes.
don't belleave what you see in the movies. in stock form Mustang GTs and cobras, 92 and up corvettes, Supra's, 3000gts, 300ZX twin turbos & V8 F bodys, rule the roads for the most part. the 95 mustang is at the low end of the spectrum but it will smoke alot of 3 & 5 serise bmw's asses untill you put an M on them. ------> don't sleep on this car
its faster than most think with 215 HP but its also got 285 foot pounds of torque!
BTW the 0 to 60 in 6.7 for a manual is a lie my automatic convertable does it in about 6. so i can only speculate that the manual is good for about 5.6
Ps: i left out alot of cars because of their price
or ignorance.. and BTW 0 to 60 does not make a car
if you can't climb hard up to 130+ then your not in the same game.
for the most part when i do race on the road im going to see 130 to 140MPH, any higher and i really don't have the balls to hang in their.
"in a stock mustang anyhow" :-)

Hey newbie, STFU, this thread is more than six months old. Don't bring up old threads.

Just post a recent race if you have one, and we'll discuss it from there.
Otherwise, digging-up a thread this old just to refute it, is pointless. You must feel very strongly about it to register just to respond to it, which I understand...but please, use etiquette.
