Alright im gettin this CRX friday. Its got 8000+ in the motor alone. New high performance cam, something bout a 3 degree something, new lifters, new valves, cold air intake (AEM), full stainless steel exhaust, no cat, DC Sport headers. This kid tells me that the car im buying can smoke stock 5.0 mustangs like their nothing. The CRX is damn fast but i dont know about a 50. I wanna race the Thunderbird because the girls boyfriend always talks about how my car is ricey and hes never seen it :flipa: so i'd like to race him but i need some advice b/c if i race him i have to win. peace:bandit:

He said a high preformance cam, not cams:( . Hopefully its not just a D16 cause if it is, I don't think he would be able to run with 5.0's.

I dunno...did he mean 8000+ as eight thousand dollars plus? I know that if I'd spent that much on the engine alone...d16, b16, or b18...I BETTER be running 13's or better!

i'm hoping he meant miles........if he did mean "cam" and it wasn't a typo.....wouldn't the b16 be eliminated.......and a b16 w/ all that shit might hang w/ the 5.0.....my bro-inlaws hatch w/ b16 runs 14's w/ only header.......i'm not too sure about zc and d16......i heard built zc's aren't that fast.....and d16.....isn't that stock motor?.......

I think 8000 is how much has been spent on the motor. In that case, he should be running some fast shit, unless he spent all 8000 gold plating everything:D .

Yea the 8000 dollars was spent on just the motor alone nothing else. Its got an exhaust too w/ no cat. And yea their is one "cam" i do believe i get the car today so ill have to ask him if its SOHC or DOHC. I dont know what those motor codes mean so.......

Peace

There's the D16A6 (stock motor on the SI) and the D16Z6, the SOHC VTEC 1.6 which came in the 92+ SI and came stock with 127hp. There's a lot of aftermarket for the Z6 and it's an inexpensive swap because a lot of Z6's get ditched in favor for their B series cousins which carry premium as well as an extra cam. I don't see how you could spend $8,000 on a D16A6 or a D16Z6 without building a high-boost turbo motor or something, maybe a few grand was spent on beer drank while assembling the motor... I would.

$8000 on an engine in a CRX and your butt better be hitting 10s. For $8000 on the engine...hmm...B18B1, turbo kit, intake, exhaust, Crower conrods + forged pistons, new wastegate, BOV, FMIC, cams + gears, ignition, boost controller, fuel rail + injectors, nitrous...and yes, all that is possible with $8000. Take the extra and use it for slicks.
