Radio Pod?pro3racer 10-24-2004, 08:12 PM Okay, i put my headunit, in place of the radio, and i also took my cassete deck out. Now i have a opening underneath my headunit, and i'm wondering what i should put there? Heres the ideas i've came up with so far, FYI, my car is a '91 non-turbo talon. 1. Little storage compartment(pocket) 2. Flat plate, and make it useless 3. Put gauges there, my car is n/t, so any gauges won't be completley necessary, but look pretty cool 4. Make a flat plate, and make a little design on it. Any other ideas would be nice, cuz right now theres just a big hole there. george536 10-24-2004, 08:17 PM id put a pocket there. it becomes useful over and over again. rs97eclipse1695 10-24-2004, 08:32 PM i had a pocket on mine....swaped it for a plastic piece and i used it for a switch pannel for neons/fog lights...go to the page in my sig to see it....its at the bottom of page one pro3racer 10-24-2004, 08:50 PM okay, i've narrowed it down to 2, either the pocket, or a design, were i take a flat peice, cut out DSM in it, then put a red neon behind it, so at night, DSM lights up in red. You can see i like the second idea, but will it look gay? george536 10-24-2004, 08:54 PM okay, i've narrowed it down to 2, either the pocket, or a design, were i take a flat peice, cut out DSM in it, then put a red neon behind it, so at night, DSM lights up in red. You can see i like the second idea, but will it look gay? hey, that sounds like a good idea. 1stGenRocks 10-24-2004, 09:39 PM mine i took a flat piece of aluminum and made it into a switch panel WankelTII 10-24-2004, 09:41 PM I just put my stock tape deck back in cause its easy! BlackEclipse97 10-24-2004, 10:03 PM yup mine is also a switch panel david-b 10-25-2004, 02:15 PM I like the idea of the DSM light. My radio onlt takes up half the space, and theres a plastic pocket thing in there with a CD changer control. I dont have a CD changer, so t kinda useless. I think Im going to try something like that. That would look pimp as hell. with the lights behind. My whole car has green lights, so a green DSM would match everything. david-b 10-26-2004, 05:18 PM Here is my try at it. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/501/107097DSCF0003_Custom_.JPG Red light under the mitsi, and green under the DSM. not done yet, but soon. Let me know what u think george536 10-26-2004, 06:15 PM that looks sweet. i bet you can sell those on ebay. david-b 10-26-2004, 06:28 PM Took 45 minutes with an exacto knife to cut that shit out. Alot of work. pro3racer 10-26-2004, 10:55 PM Oh, exacto knife, i was thinking of using a cnc mill(we have one at school, actually, we have 3). I could use your approach though, then i could do it at home. Looks nice though, what is that white coating? david-b 10-27-2004, 08:35 PM The white coating is kinda like paper. But thin and flimsy. Got 3 layers under there so its foggy, but light still comes thru. Dont try wit exacto knife. Takes too long. Im very happy with it tho. Any other questions? Good luck if you try. d0h 10-28-2004, 05:41 AM If you ever decide to make your car a show car, you can do a custom EQ (maybe even put the shine-thru logo in the middle of the range splitting the highs and the lows) into that slot. That's what it's there for in the 1st place. Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
