Reg cab Taco--not many around?

Lookin' for a Tacoma in all the wrong places...

I'm looking for a used Taco, fairly late model. It seems like most all of the used trucks out there have an extended cab. My question is: is it realistic to hope to find a (newer) used Taco w/ regular cab? Are there enough reg cab Taco's on the used market that I can hope to find a good buy? Automotive.com has hardly any reg cabs.

Re: Reg cab Taco--not many around?

Thanks for the link. I just checked it out. There are a few reg cabs out there---not many, and hard to find. I know a dealer I can trust. He'll want the sale, so he can hunt for me.

Re: Reg cab Taco--not many around?

I have an extra cab myself I like the fact that I can put my kids in for trips around town and there's somewhere dry to put your non water proof cargo but looking at the autotader I can see what You mean, the regular cabs just arent as popular as they used to be. Good luck with it.

Where are you located? Seems like I see lots of Reg cabs around town, haven't really checked the dealerships though. I got a 96 Reg cab 4x4 last March w/ a tad over 100k on it for $5200. I chose the Reg cab because most of the trails that I take are more like ATV trails...

Re: Reg cab Taco--not many around?

I work in a well-to-do suburb of Philadelphia, PA. Around here, folks drive Hummers over smooth roads. I see lots of huge pick-ups, but no one ever seems to haul anything. I'd like to get a 4x2 reg cab for the family back in Ohio, something to haul fire wood with.

Re: Reg cab Taco--not many around?

Nice trucks, but bigger than my family's needs. If they still made them, I would probably go for a new T-100.

Re: Reg cab Taco--not many around?

Really? My mistake. I went to school with a guy who had a very small, 4 cyl Toyota pickup, and I thought it was a T-100. Wonder what it was...

4x2 Taco's are pretty stinkin little, Non-Prerunners anyway. I'm not real sure about 2x T-100's I know that the 4x4's are bigger than my Taco.

Re: Reg cab Taco--not many around?

Actually the only difference betwean the Pre-runner and a 4x2 is suspension mods and bigger tires

Re: Reg cab Taco--not many around?

When I was researching a Camry a while back, it didn't seem like there was a noticeable difference in power output between the engine sizes. Is the difference in power more dramatic with the engine options for the trucks?

Re: Reg cab Taco--not many around?

You may want to consider a new one instead of a late model used. Dealers may be dealing on 04's or offering rebates since the new 05 model is out. I bought my 04 reg cab 4x2 last week and there were a few to choose from.

Re: Reg cab Taco--not many around?

Good tip. With the way Toyota's keep their value, I haven't found a big difference between the price of new and used. But I haven't checked to see what is available at the dealership. Thanks.
