Tach Wire

I'm installing a remote starter and need to locate the tachometer wire coming out of my coil pack. The manufacturer says that the tach wire is one of the white wires coming out of the coil pack. I looked at the Haynes schematic and the harness and there are 2 solid white wires. According to the shematic, the other one is "IG CTRL". Is there a way of probing them to find out which is which?

Re: Tach Wire

I don't have a schematic in front of me, but the tach output wire runs straight to the cluster. Check continuity from one white wire to the white wire on the cluster connector. One of them will most definitely show a good path, wheras the other will not. If I had a schematic I'd be able to tell you more, but that's what I've got right now.

Re: Tach Wire

I think after looking at the schematic that cadgear is right, unless you want to try to follow the wires, where on the car does the remote starter connect to the rest of the wires? There should only be 1 white wire that actually goes into the cluster, the other goes to the ecm.

I found the tach wire. It's the one that gives a reading between 1 - 6V AC. The other white one has a constant 12V DC. I hope I'm right...
