'99 Accord Stalls/ Electric Diesbatookee 10-16-2004, 02:59 PM I have a '99 Accord 4 cylinder that's been causing us problems lately. Not to long ago, it started to stall randomly. I then realised that it's not really staling, but all the electrical goes dead. As far as I can see, the blinkers, gauges, power steering and power brakes, throttle and A/C go dead. The only thing that I noticed that stays on is the radio, power windows/locks and e-flashers. So it does this completely randomly as far as I can see. I could be stopped at a light, in the middle of driving and it especially does it a lot just when I'm turning the car on (I have to turn it 3-4 times before it actually stays on). When I'm driving and it dies, it takes me anywhere from 2-3 to 15-20 tries before it stays on. I find its worse when it's raining or really damp out. Anyway I was just wondering if anyone can shed some light on this before I take it in to get repaired. Thank you, Sebastien Couture hunko1948 10-18-2004, 01:57 PM I had the same problem with my 1997 honda. I called the dealer and there was a recall for my ignition switch. You should check you local dealer and see if you are in the same catagory. As far as whats happening to you, I had the same problem and since they replaced the ignition switch everything is working great! Hope this helps... :uhoh: deaz 10-19-2004, 01:06 PM Did you ever check the play in your power steering and alternator belts? If there is too much, they could be slipping and causing the problem. I'd also check your power steering fluid level to make sure that is not also causing any strain on your engine. Also wouldn't hurt to take your car to Advance or Autozone and get a free alternator/battery test done on the car. 5thGenAccord 10-20-2004, 10:42 AM same deal with mine. recall on ignition switch. blacknight 10-20-2004, 04:36 PM If it specifically does it when it's wet outside that's a sign that there's an electrical problem. This could vary anywhere from spark plug wires to the ignition switch. The only downside is that electrical problems can be a major pain to locate. The good thing is that 2 people have already stated similar problems caused by the ignition switch. So I would check that out first. Good luck Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
