Coolant leak into passenger seat

I have a 1994 4.3L S-10 blazer and my coolant is leaking into my passenger compartment. This looks to be a heater core, is this a complicated repair to do yourself? Or would it be costly to have done at a shop?

Thanks

Heater core is gone.

Make sure a hose isn't the cause first and if it is the heater core, you will be in for a bit of a struggle to get it in and out.

Yeah, did the heater core on my 89 PU. Don't go overboard on the dash and removing plastic, as there is a lot. Just follow a Chilton Manual or whatever and wrestle it out.. it is kinda tough. The cores are usually below $50 to replace, is a good days work, two nights in our case. You could have a hell of a time getting to the hoses in the compartment though... Replace those while yo're at it.

If your '94 has a removeable glove box, It can be done in less than 3 hours. I can do them in under 2 if it has the removable glove box. If it's not then it should not take more than 4 hours.

Oh, the heater core is only 10 minutes of that, not counting the hoses.

Remember, not everyone has the mechanical and tool ability of someone like you or me bro.

This repair can take up to a full day if the person hasn't done it before.

Thanks for the input. I figured it was the heater core and have a Haynes manual. I figure I will allow a weekend to do it. I have the mechanical aptitude to do it but since I haven't done it before I will give myself some extra time if I get frustrated and need a break.

Thanks again.

Do you have a/c ?? If you do some times that makes it harder to do

Just replaced heater core in my 96 PU. Took me about 5 hours, mostly because I was in a dark parking lot, it was cold out, and I couldn't remove my dash entirely, as the haynes manual says to. Just about anyone can do it, just follow along in the book and take your time.

i have a 91 blazer and i had to do the heater core twice now, its not the easiest task, however if you can get to the two bottom screws of the second plastic cover on the heater core, i broke the tabs for the top two, it makes it so you dont have to take the whole dash apart and it makes the job go alot faster, i got my heater core done in about 30-40 minutes, but taking the dash apart is the best way to do it if you wanna do it right.

ya, it went once and my father replaced it when it was his, then it went out once on me about 8 months ago. it lasted about 3 years before it went the second time.
