Sanding/Painting

Ok have an 84 Caprice wagon, need to paint it.
Never had any experience with painting cars. Painted a few aluminom computer cases that came out real nice.

First sanding
Ive been told that i cant use power sanders? this true?
What grit paper should i use or sanding stones..

Painting...
Right now im just going to be doing the hood just to see if i can do it or not.

have an air compresser, have a small spray gun, will be buying a bigger one.

People look at me like im crazy every time i ask this but..
Im painting it black with metal flake, and what i want is when it gets direct sunlight for that light to reflect as red.. not the kinda paint that changes color as you walk around it. Just want the light to reflect off as red.. is this posible?.. and is it hard and/or requir special paint.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Sanding/Painting

You need to custom mix your paint with red flakes in black paint. Talk to your local paint supplier to see if they can help you out with it.

Depends on the paint, and the severity of the orange peel or FLA. I say dont go any lower that 800 wet But sometimes that not enough, so the lowest you should go (IF YOU ABSOLUTELY NEED TO) is 600wet, no lower.
