I am about to start rebuilding a the motor on my 80 toy. I have and good 22re bottom end. I was wondering if I can use the 22re block with the 20r head. I have heard that motor mounts my not match, and I will not be able to use the the dual timing set. I also read that if I use the valves out of the 22re I am limited to the cam I can use. I will have to stay mild, is this true? Any input would be great help.

you can do it ... and with the original engine in your /80 being a 20r .. you dont even have to do any pluming .

there is no problems with using any cam you want .. The main reason for using the 20r head on the 22r block is the compression ... you'll gain 1.0 in compression .

as far as the duel chain set up ... you can use the stock duel set up , up untill /84 ... you'll just have to get the longer oil pump drive gear . I just did this on my /84 http://www.members.shaw.ca/slacker502/lowrider.htm

i am swapping a 22rec into my 2wd out of my 4x4 and i was wondering, is there like a 20r-e head that i could use to step up the compression in mine? or would i have to keep the 22r to do that. i am doing the swap to get away from carburetion, and i would like to gain more power with simple mods first.

hey slacker, that front bumper that you have on your lowrider, what year is that for? is it a conversion kit? what kind of preparation is required to install?

well again depending on the year ... in 85 toyota change the blocks and head ... for example a 79-84 head wont work on a 85-95 block .

I forgot my camera that day , but basically , I fabbed up my own front and side brackets .
