Does anyone else have experience with the 3.2L using lots of oil. It's not dripping, and doesn't smoke, but goes through about a quart per tank of gas.

When I asked about my 2000 3.2l, the dealership told me that a quart of oil every 1000 miles was normal.

try sea foam in the oil to clean the rings.

May also be the type of oil you're using. My '99 Rodeo would use a quart of oil every 3k miles using Castrol 10w-30. Last oil change I switched over to Shell Rotella T 15w-40 and now with over 3k miles it's still on the full mark.

I know these 3.2's use oil, and I also know that Isuzu's claim that it is normal is complete BS. Luckily and suprisingly enough mine stays steady in between oil changes (although it probably won't now that I said something!). If you are using a quart between every fill up, then you should seriously think about using the sea foam mentioned earlier or taking some other course of action. A quart every tank is nowhere near "normal" (even by isuzu's standards). Are you sure you don't have a leak? I would use the sea foam and if the oil consumption didn't improve, I would sell it. The sea foam is said to work wonders, however.

Mine used a quart every 1000 miles (sometimes less than 1000) until the engine seized. Isuzu dealer (ADZAM in Bedford NY SUCKS) claimed using a qt/1K is "normal" and Isuzu agreed my truck has yet to be fixed.
If you are still under warranty GET IT IN WRITING and cover your ass.
