Tick or Knock noise

I have 2000 Silver 5.3l 107,000 miles, at about 2,000 rpm I get a ticking noise like lifter noise. My question is there any way to adjust lifters or rockers to quiet this down. It is coming from driver side of engine sounding just like right under rockers but from inside the truck it sounds like exhaust leak or something. Any help much thanks.

Re: Re: Tick or Knock noise

There's no way to adjust does rocker arms they are Hydrolic you can take try to take out the Valve cover and make sure nothing is lose or that a rocker arm is broken I really dought they are losse or cracked the torque Spec on does are 22 ft-lbs. Talked to several mechanics and told me I have a bad Valve lifter. But my next ? is to change out the lifters I have to take out the Head and intake or I just have to take out the Intake?

Re: Tick or Knock noise

I just experienced this issue this weeked, at 2000 rpm (and around 140km/h) (bless that ambulance on the highway, everybody was going over 140km/h)

I was running it on 86 octane gas though, IŽll do it again running on propane to see if the sound lingers.

Arrow lifters

to replace the hydraulic roller lifters in a vortec v8 you have to remove the intake manifold and then the cylinder heads. under the cylinder heads you have to remove these little retainers that keep the lifters in. THEN... you can pull the lifters out. easy huh? lol. be sure to soak new lifters in oil for a while before installation.

Re: lifters

Has any body had any issues with this kind of noise I still haven't changed out the lifters. I really don't know what it is. U get this noise on the driver's side when U are going 2,000 rpm or above, it kind of sounds like a lifter. I open up the valve cover and didn't see anything lose, check and verify that rocker arms weren't lose check torque spec(22 ft-lbs). I think I'm going to take it to a mechanic. Before I do does anybody had any problems or had the same issue??????

Re: Tick or Knock noise

I am leaning towards a possible leaking exhaust manifold , i had a k1500 jimmy once with a 350 in it and thought the motor had let go one time. Turned out to be the exhaust manifold gasket blew out on the middle flange. Just a thought.

Re: Re: Tick or Knock noise

U know what, I check for any leaks on the exhaust and didn't find anything. Took the truck to the mechanic and told me that it sounds like underneath the valve cover. Does anybody know of a problem like mine???????

Well to tell you all just about everyone I know that has the big Bow Tie has "THE TICK" The good news is it goes away 30 seconds after start. What causes that is not enough oil getting to the lifters fast enough.

lifters

i know this doesnt directly answer anyones question, but i have a 99 4.8 and it makes a clacking/ticking at off-idle due to collapsed lifters. its more noticeable on the right side, and it sounds like its coming from below the valve covers, which makes sense, cause thats where the lifters are. most lifters make ticking at below 2000 when they are collapsed but perhaps yours are broken in a different way?
