Needs o2 sensor. My question, Where is it located? and is it hard to replace? and how long should it take? Thanks alot dksob81 09-30-2004, 01:32 PM what YEAR? drummerb86 09-30-2004, 04:07 PM oh sorry, 1997 grand cherokee lardeo I6 2wd DIY Mechanic 09-30-2004, 04:44 PM There is a pre cat and a post cat. They have two different connectors. A 22mm wrench works best. Better that those 'Special Tools'. Unplug the connector[s], thread the wire through the closed end of the combination wrench - hammer if necessary - to loosen the sensor up. I recommend replacing both. Especially if you are near or past 100,000 miles. The post catalytic converter sensor is most likely the culprit. Post means down stream of the catalytic converter and pre cat means in front of the catalytic converter. The pre cat O2 sensor is between the engine and the catalytic converter and may be difficult to see. The sensor will have to be removed from underneath just like the post cat O2 sensor. Very easy Do-It-Yourself job. Do not be afraid to use a hammer on the wrench. Anti-Seize can be used sparingly on the new sensors but I do not use it - to avoid contaminating the new sensor. dksob81 09-30-2004, 10:04 PM yea the O2 Sockets are garbage for )2 sensors that are mount on the ehaust u can't get to them, just use an open end wrech. they are only useful on O2 sensors that are mounted on the Exhaust Manifold Flange like in some GM prosucts. drummerb86 10-01-2004, 04:58 PM well i pulled the old one out, then the new one was to big to fit. I bought the part from the guy that works as the local parts store(he used his discount to get it to me cheaper). Since he was not suppose to do this i cant just return it. Well i called him and left a message.... we'll see what happens, i hope he will replace with correct one. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2010, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
