what are the symptoms of a bad catalytic converter?

rattling.....if theres any way you can get a temperature from the cat inlet and then the outlet....do it. there should be a 100 degree difference between the 2.

I had my camaro start slowing down on me on acceleration with only 30k miles on it. Its doing it again at 53k miles and I going to try cleaning the injectors first. If it doesnt fix it I am going to take my cat off and run it down the road to see if it improves. If it does I will replace it, if not back to the drawing board. You could always try the same thing if you think your cat is going. Whats your car doing for you?

well, it's the weirdest thing....
I drove it on Saturday and it was fine. It sat the better part of Saturday and all of Sunday. I get into it Monday morning and start it and it rumbles...it's never rumbled before, at least not like this. The ride is SUPER rough, it's shakes and vibrates all over the place and the rpms jiggle back and forth really fast. Someone on the post before said you can smell if your cat is clogged. Well, I smell something...it doesn't smell like oil or gas or exhaust. so, I have no freakin' clue what's wrong. I just replaced the ECM about a month ago, ICM has been replaced, new cap and rotor, new spark plugs, new ignition coil.....any ideas????

mine is a repeated typing injury. They want to slice my hand in 4 places....I'm not sure when I'm having the procedure...couple weeks maybe. But I have to rest it for now.
