what do i need for a d16z6 swap91hbman 09-28-2004, 08:50 PM i've got a 92 civic cx with the d15 motor in it what all will i need to do a d16z6 swap. any web sites you guys might know of would be great. is most of the wiring the same except the vtec wiring? any help would be awsome GScivic7 09-28-2004, 11:54 PM motor (a longblock preferably, not sure how much you can use from the d15 on the d16), and ecu basically. You have pretty much everything else. And I'm not completely sure, but I have been told that all civics come pre-wired for VTEC it's just a matter of hooking up that wire. Other than that, you can use your d15 tranny, it will be a little slower, but you get better MPG. mellowboy 09-29-2004, 12:09 AM Its a direct bolt in swap. Just wire up the vtec and get the SI/ex tranny. eckoman_pdx 09-29-2004, 12:13 AM As GScivic7 said, you'll want the D16Z6 ECU also. mellowboy 09-29-2004, 12:22 AM ECU should be included with the whole swap. eckoman_pdx 09-29-2004, 03:44 AM ECU should be included with the whole swap. True, but it's better to make sure he understands that it's needed. There are jerks out there who will try to sell him the motor for a "swap" with no ecu. It's better to point it out and be safe than not point it out and have the poor guy end up with a motor for a "swap" where the ecu wasn't included mellowboy 09-29-2004, 10:14 AM Thats true. :) 91hbman 10-03-2004, 12:04 PM Thanks guys of the info. i've got the ecu. the motor came out of my friends 94 ex after they did a b16 swap.
