92 g20 6 cly. problemsjsa 09-27-2004, 03:50 PM Hello, I recently purchased a 92 g20 with about 90,000 miles on it. When driving at speeds below 35 the ride is smooth. When I hit about 35-40 mph the van starts to shake at times. It feels almost as if I were driving over those little bumps that they put on the side of the road to alert sleeping drivers. Any idea what this could be? Please help because I need this van for work ASAP. thank you CHIPETE 10-01-2004, 03:27 PM it might be your drive shaft.take it to see if it is balance jsa 10-02-2004, 01:01 PM If it were my drive shaft wouldnt the problem be noticable all the time and not just when I'm going 45? CHIPETE 10-04-2004, 06:12 PM I had my trans changed and i bent the shaft while taking it out ,anyway i only got vibration at 45-55 mph then after that the vibration went away.i had the shaft balanced and had new u-joints install as well and now it ride like a caddy.the balance job was 150 bucks but well worth it CHIPETE 10-04-2004, 06:17 PM but u know it could be something as simple as bad tires, ball joints or tie rod ends jsa 10-04-2004, 10:26 PM I took it to a nearby mechanic for a diagnosis and they said that it was something wrong with the engine, but they couldnt be sure exactly what under they hooked it up to the computer for $130. I'm not sure if I'm believing that. jsa 10-06-2004, 09:00 PM I checked the U-joints and they appeared to be solid. There wasnt much play at all in there. I havent checked the ball joints or tie rod ends yet but I will. I don't really think that's what it is tho. It seems more to do with what gear I'm in but I could be wrong.
