04 Yukon suggetions on DVD Players?

I purchased an 04 Yukon w/o a DVD layer. I found two different stock DVD players for the Yukon with and w/o a sun roof on ebay (2 stock models). I went to the dealer to look at the headliners and found that GM makes 3 different headliners for the 04 Yukon. The stock DVD will not fit perfectly in my truck due to the headliner configurations. Can anyone suggest a DVD monitor that fits best for this truck?

Thanks

I'm guessing there are a number of systems out there that would fit nicely. My wife's truck has a Rosen unit with a 10" screen and we're very happy with it. Good luck!

Take care,
Jerry

Hmm, that's interesting; given that the possible headliner configurations are:

no sunroof / DVD
sunroof / DVD
no sunroof / no DVD
sunroof / no DVD

Since the first and third can theoretically use the same headliner configuration, I'm guessing that you must have the fourth one (sunroof/no DVD)--that's the only config that would not allow you to add either one of the DVD players, I would think...'cuz any of the other three would allow you to be able to hook up one of the two DVD players you found on ebay.

Why am I saying all this? Because if indeed my guess is correct, you are correct in saying that neither stock DVD player you found will work with your headliner unless you replace it with one that can accomodate both sunroof and DVD...in which case, you're strictly looking at aftermarket. Jerry's (Vroom2) suggestion of the Rosen is a good choice, as they come highly recommended...albeit a bit more expensive than many of the other aftermarket DVD solutions.

Jerry--how the heck does your wife see out the back with that jumbo 10" screen blocking her rear view?

Mtull,
My wife and I went down this same road a few months back. After asking questions from other SUV owners they said they would avoid a drop down unit altogether if they have to do something again later. They recommended buying a portable or portable units depending on what you want to do.
We went this route and purchased 2 very nice Audiovox 8 inch screened DVD/MP3/CD players with wireless remotes and headphones for 40% less than it would have costs to have a smaller screened drop down deal installed. A couple bonuses that we have enjoyed recently is we have 2 children and as you know children can never agree on movies to watch, now they have one of their own. We also recently went camping and they brought one into their tent and watched movies with their friends...

Just some options to consider before you plunk down $1000-$1300

We don't use it a lot, but the system is awesome. It does render the rear view mirror all but useless. :) I'm curious as to the reasons behind not going with a drop-down?

Aesthetically, and I suppose for safety reasons, I like the idea of headrest displays. However, one of the features I like about the Denali is the adjustable (fore and aft) headrests, which would tend to make such screens unusable.

In any case, I'll admit that if the truck didn't have the system in it when we bought it, we wouldn't have gone shopping for one after the fact.

Take care,
Jerry

I just bought a really nice all-in-one Sony unit from Goodguys for about $1200 installed. It comes with wireless headphones or you can play it though the stereo.

I've been thinking about installing a DVD player with the headrest screens. Any recommendations??

Audiovox has a nice unit with a 7" screen. The DVD player is built into the screen so there is nothing under the seat.

Jdaviso1,

I've seen those and they are nice, but what I like about the single screen on the ceiling is that people in the rear seat can see it as well and the folks in the middel row. Just my .02
