1996 grand am gt radio - no codes !! arghtorontogt 09-22-2004, 02:26 PM hi, I have a 96 grand am gt, with a delco radio ( cd, radio, equalizer ). The previous owner locked the radio and when I lost power, it wouldn't accept the 4 digit code given to me by the dealer ( for which I had to pay $70 :p ). Now i have the option of paying $150 for a refurbed delco ( canadian dollars ). But i've thought i may just get something from best buy for a little more. The factory sound system in the car is pretty damn good so i don't want to get a weaker radio by going non - delco. anyone have any experience they can provide ? thanks richtazz 09-22-2004, 02:31 PM Go with a Sony X-plode or Kenwood Excelon series. They have the best tuners in the aftermarket, and the CD players have good signal to noise ratio. smackattack 10-13-2004, 09:19 PM I have always changed out to aftermarket radios. I just changed out one in my wifes 2002 dodge intrepid. The cd player I put in blows away the factory set up useing the original speakers. You can get a very nice cd player on ebay for less than 100.00 brand new. 96GTmatt 11-22-2004, 10:13 PM Go with alpine. I have a 96 Grand Am and I have always put in aftermarket cd players. I would say go with alpine and look for them on ebay. Much cheaper. Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
