V8 in a '68 912 ???

I own a 68 porsche 912. It's a shell, no interior, no motor, no tranny and about 1/2 the suspension.

I was told by a friend that some one sells a kit to put a chevy small block in one of these. I was also told that the later years of these cars (69-70?) came with a very stout tranny.
Finally I'm looking for any other forums, maybe devoted to specifically porsches or 912s, that I could search for some more info on this car.
Thx.

Ben
