I had exactly the same problem - Check Engine Light came on and stayed on....it would sometimes go off but mainly stayed lit

I had an independant check it who said it was in the 'secondary air injection '

Since I knew it would be expensive, I marched to the dealer and they changed the sensor - I don't have much more on this except the bill (it was under warranty so they didn't list the price just what they did) - do you need to know more?

I am trying to locate the bill ....but I wanted to answer this part of it - it was a faulty sensor that was replaced - it wouldn't have caused damage to other components but it could affect the lean/rich mixture which could lead to performance issues and gas mileage.

I had neither - it was just an annoying light to have on

Apparently the dealer said that this was a common problem in the 2nd gens (>2001)

When I find the bill, I can list the part and maybe the amount of hours they spent would be there which woudl give you an idea of the complexity

Why woudln't you have this repaired under warranty? - it falls under the 5-year emission control warranty even if your other one hs passed

Did you get your problem resolved?
I have similar problem that started when the gas cap was left open.
Reset the code, it stays off till the next fill up, then after about 50 miles it come back on.
Any help?

I have the same problem. I assumed it would not be covered under warranty and just reset the light. My reading has indicated the secondary injection system is a completely useless system, so I figured I would just reset the light when it comes on. . . about once per month. I have an 01 with 60,000 miles, you say this falls under a different warranty than the 36,000 mile 3 year warranty?

I was driving with P0410 for 8 months, untill 6 weeks ago I desided to do the tune-up. My Aurora had 180K kilometers on it, so it was time to do something...
It appeared that my Plugs were completely burned - down to the isolators. Mechanic also replaced PCV valve, cleaned the throttle body, did the fuel and air filter... He also scanned my Oxigen sensors - they were OK.

After all, he told me that my P0410 will likely disappear pretty soon. Because of the poor plugs, engine had poor (incomplete) fuel burn, so my Oxigen sensor registered higher oxigen content and interprited it as the Secondary Air Intake vacuum loss - like it was sucking air into the collectors due to the leaking Sec. air intake valve(s).

Indeed, in 3 days Check lignt went off. Then, in 5 days, it came back for few hours, and disappeared again.
One month later I am still driving without Check (Keepping my fingers crossed!)
