1988voyager headbolts{3.0}

i was checking a headgasket set online,{139.00}but also the site said
new headbolts required{40.00}.Not that i am to much of a cheapskate
but are new bolts really needed?if so why is this?

Yes, new head bolts are needed. The reason has to do with the aluminum block of the engine and the tightening procedure. The bolts are made of a metal alloy that will "stretch" at a point when torqued (presumably so as to not over torque and rip out the threads in the block). Use once, throw away.
