car won't do anything

Car was running just fine. went to start it and nothing happens. Key won't turn on - or release to be removed. Nothing electrical works. Tried to jump the battery - didn't work. Checked fuses and all fine. Any ideas?? Thanks

Sounds like bad ignition cylinder or ignition switch.

Check your positive battery terminal for bad corrosion, especially if you have the factory delco battery in place.

Did you ever find out what the problem was for your car not doing anything.
My car did the same thing this morning, everything dead and can't get key out.
What's up?

The first thing I'd do is check the battery cables. Make sure they are free of corrosion and are not loose. If they are good to go, I'd get the battery tested. Take it to AutoZone. They will test it free.

A lack of power to the electrical system will prevent you from removing the key once you've tried to start the car. Battery and cables may not be the problem but it's a good place to start.

Re: car won't do anything

try moving the tilt steering up and down to see if the ign is jammed, but it sounds like no power is getting to your security module, and the pass key is locking the ignition

Same thing happened to me 2 years ago. Had to use the interlock override on the shifter console to get the key out. It under a little plastic plug. When I check the positive cable on the battery by trying to wiggle it the terminal snapped off in my hand. Severley corroded. Was factory battery. Replaced it and no trouble since.
