I am having recent problems with acceleration when in first gear. I own a 1991 corolla. What can this be caused by and how can fix this?

i have a 1990 seca sx and theres a problem with mine aswell it doesnt get all of its power as it use to, down low its laggin but up high its gaining no idea ay :S
