96 camry won't startskk 09-06-2004, 10:40 PM Need help with my 96 camry LE. It has now about 97k. Three four month back I did a brake job. Right after that I could smell somthing burning from the front. Went back to the mechanic, he said some times new pad smells that way. It will be OK with time. So I had this smell going on. but Four days back I came back from a 5 hours drive I could smell the same burning smell but little stronger. I didn't drive the car for 3 days, when started yesterday it took three try to start. But today it does not even startl. I think battery and starters are OK. Light can be ON. It does not crank. It makes electrical relay tick tick sound. Is this a normal problem? Need your help. Brian R. 09-07-2004, 12:18 AM No guarantees, but it is probably your starter contacts: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=166530 Yes, it is a common problem skk 09-07-2004, 10:02 AM Thanks. Any Idea why the burning smell? Brian R. 09-07-2004, 10:31 AM Unrelated - no idea. Check your brakes to make sure they are not binding against the rotor. They will cause big trouble if they are too tight to release the pressure on the rotor. Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
